The past year has been a roller coaster of emotional upheaval. Several deaths in my extended family pushed me into a dark place last summer. It kept me down in that dark place for about 7 months. The only thing that kept me alive was reading the Psalms. Day after day I would find a new word that revealed God in all of his glory to me. I think that one of the contributing factors was the physical darkness of winter. When Spring came and the days started getting longer and sunnier, my spiritual darkness lifted. Joy in God increased to the place that I felt that he was with me. It is amazing when the physical aspects of my life affect the emotional aspects and the spiritual aspects. They are tied together so closely. One of my desires is to move south to avoid those long, dark days that are so prominent in this latitude.

3 years since I have posted. God has done amazing things in my life since then. He has restored my marriage and given me a hope that was lost. I praise him for his son Jesus who restored me to spiritual stability and gave me a passionate love for my wife that has not abated. He has again given me a love of theology and a desire to bring people into the grace of God. I am praying for the future, however simple it may be in the way of service.

Internet dangers
Internet dangers are many. One is posting personal information. It becomes available for public consumption and defilement. Lately I have had to go back and remove much personal information posted on my blog and now I will be very careful about it in the future.

3:10 to Yuma
I never thought I'd do this. Comment on a movie. I had anticipated it, as I usually do Westerns that seem to be made in a little more authentic way. Not the cutesie, men with white hats and silver pistols kind, but the men with dirty teeth, old clothes, ugly women kind of Westerns.
This one did not disappoint, but the ending did. It was believable to a point, then at the end, I was truly disappointed. They took liberal ideas about altruism and pushed them back to the 1870's and made Ben Wade into something that never existed.
Oh, well, see it for yourself.

The Future of Justification
I am reading John Piper's "The Future of Justification," and hope to blog much in regard to it. If you read this and have read the book, please provide feedback as you have time and desire.

What will God do in 2007?
2007 is looking like an interesting year. Our church is losing David Yoder, who has been a trusted companion and minister of the Word. He is taking a church in Tennessee. God will bless these people. I am on the verge of taking a second job, and the stress of that prospect is weighing heavily on the whole family. God is good and his grace is sufficient.
